So, I was thinking about God again, and I have an additional perspective. I believe that God, among many other things, could be a reflection of humanity’s conscience. Unquestionably, we’ve all been victims and guilty of wrongdoings. And when one knows that they’ve fucked up, it eats at them—their guilt becomes a burden. What if humans created the idea of God to comfort and console themselves in times of confusion and conflict? When information and facts are absent, speculation and imagination become one’s only avenues to reaching potential understandings. When humans are oblivious to the facts of their existence and experiences, meaning when explanations are scarce, it’s only natural for them to use their “intelligence” to search for clarity. How often are your assumptions accurate? The problem with intelligence is that most people aren’t capable of accurately gauging it for themselves. And in the absence of facts, with facts being indisputable information, who’s going to argue against theories and conclusions that may be false or flawed but are plausible? There’s plenty of shit that I don’t give a fuck about, and it’s possible for someone with knowledge on those things to sell me on certain details—at least until I do my own research. It’s somewhat believable that everything natural on Earth exists because something supernatural assisted its creation. And the supernatural are simply things that science can’t explain. Before science, all humans had were their imaginations and curiosity. And said curiosity sparked the birth of systematic studies, which we refer to as science, and the documenting of evidence that proves or disproves theories formed through imagination. All creativity is initiated through one’s imagination, creativity inspires innovation, and innovation leads to the informational and technological advancements that push us forward. I may be all over the place here, but my point is that confusion and conflict are as natural as curiosity and imagination. We’ll never have all the answers because the more we wonder and wish, the more we imagine and create. What’s more, we wouldn’t be able to move forward, and we wouldn’t have gotten this far, if we weren’t so consistently clueless. Every now and then, I like to remind the readers that nobody is excluded from “everybody.” With that being said, when was the last time you felt stupid? Thinking is a process that requires good sense and sound judgement to benefit the most from. But because our minds aren’t naturally in a permanent state of clearness, and because ignorance is an unavoidable result of lacking incite and information, humans have proclivities for misjudgment and nonsensical thoughts. In simpler terms, we all fuck up sometimes because that’s our nature—we can’t help it. Nevertheless, it’s in everyone’s best interest to allow their cluelessness to endlessly encourage their curiosity so as to make chasing clarity common. Whenever you’re not in a life and death situation or aren’t faced with a pressing matter, taking the time out to think thoroughly is smart. Sayings like “you only live once,” and “time is of the essence,” and “the early bird gets the worm,” imply that everything is a time-sensitive matter. And I believe that “now or never” mindset is what causes many people to fuck up habitually. Right now, whether y’all recognize it or not, it’s like the world is literally revolving around me. I am beginning to believe that my greatness is fated. And I reached this point because I’ve been patient, persistent, and prepared. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve fucked up along the way, but I’ve learned more from those mistakes than I have from well-thought-out decisions. Losses can be lessons, but they should never be a lifestyle. What do you want the most in life? Personally, fulfillment is my primary focus, and I don’t mind taking the scenic route to achieve it. If we don’t have anything but time, what sense does it make speeding it up just to attain an aim without a target? Always shoot for the bull’s eye instead of the broad sight.
“The Feds is watchin’, niggas plottin’ to get me. Will I survive, will I die? Come on, let’s picture the possibility.” Has your life ever felt like a rap song? Anyhoo, my favorite car is a 1987 Buick GNX. The GNX is the highest trim level of Buick’s flagship classic, the Grand National, and many consider it the ultimate muscle car. The Buick Grand National is family to General Motor’s “G” platform, and us enthusiasts often refer to vehicles from said platform as “G-body” vehicles. Shout-out to California rapper Gifted Gab, who released a dope album last year titled “G-body Music.” I’ve driven G-bodies my entire adult life, and I’ve owned at least 15 of them. Last week, Compton’s chief communicator, Kendrick Lamar, released an album titled “GNX.” And personally, I believe it’s some of the best music he’s released in years. As a creative, I understand how stressing and straining oneself to produce what one considers their best work can lead to hypercriticism of and disappointment in one’s own result. Many of us know that getting out of one’s own head is one of the most difficult things to do. And it seems like K. Dot didn’t overthink anything on this album. None of the songs sound the same, the lyrics aren’t too convoluted, there are several “bops,” and the album has tons of replay value. I don’t like to go too in-depth with music reviews because I don’t take entertainment as seriously as I do life, but “GNX” gets a fresh ten out of a dozen roses from Beau Amoureux. However, as I previously stated, I still believe that J. Cole is going to shock the fuck out of everyone with how impressive “The Fall Off” will be. I just feel that shit. Moving on, how do you deal with expectations? In my opinion, people-pleasing has its place, just not as a permanent practice in life. Whenever one is providing a product or service, giving people their time or money’s worth is just proper etiquette. By the same token—just as another way to look at it—if you desire for people to deem you reliable and worthwhile, it only makes sense to give them your best effort for each moment. Producing high quality consistently says to people, “I’m someone you can trust.” Believe it or not, I’m a lot less of an asshole than I may come off. Yes, I ignore the fuck out of people—some of you have experienced that firsthand. By the way, it’s not personal for strangers. And yes, I’m hard and harsh at times. But I believe that blogging for me has been a selfless act since I began. Because I understand that if people could share just a smidgen of my strength and smarts, the world could be a better place. And if that happens, I could pay people more attention, and be a little softer and gentler. If you’re going to please people, make sure it’s your pleasure to do so. Still, on the other side of pleasure is pain, and the universe requires balance. There will be people who enter your life who won’t want the scale to be balanced, and they for damn sure won’t want it to tilt in your favor. Sometimes, putting people in their rightful place is necessary, and that place will inevitably be beneath you for people who dare to deliberately displease you. I don’t know about y’all, but it’s difficult for me to pity pitiful people. Too much grace and mercy could be a grave mistake, so be ready to do what it takes to keep your scale balanced. That doesn’t mean you have to fight or fuss, but you may have to take drastic measures. Determine who you owe something to, and who you’re obligated to, and preserve your people-pleasing exclusively for them. For everyone else, just do what it takes to circumvent bad karma. And to that very special lady, whatever you want from me, it’s yours! Peace.
