“I wanna give you so much! For the things that you give to me! Just take my love, baby! Because you are so dear to me! Whatever you want! BEAU-BEAU-BEAU-BEAU! Whatever you need! My heart belongs to you!” Y’all, what in this war-ridden, wildly wicked, wasteful, worsening world would you do if the Universe was definitely, demonstrably, deeply in love with you? Which queues the query, what if your heart has a mind of its own? “Walks by me every day. Her and love are the same. The woman that’s stolen my heart. And beauty is her name! I’m hoping I can make you mine! ‘Fore another man steals your heart! And once this beauty is mine, I swear we will never be apart!” If you didn’t ultimately understand the distinctive, defining difference between JoJo and SisQo, their strikingly strong and super similar voices and ad-libs may make many mistake the two as the same singer, right? Maybe it’s just me. Anyhoo, multiple meanings and lovely lyrics go together like wives and widows, and R&B regularly, repetitively replays references to love, the heart, the mind, the body, and the soul. And whether soulful songwriters recognize the regular repetition of references in lyrics about life and love or not, they’re too common to call coincidence, correct? In the lovely lyrics of Dru Hill’s “Beauty,” the soulful singers are seemingly suggesting that they regularly, repetitively pass potential partners or love interests daily, then wonder what would happen if they conjured the courage to capture their deepest desire—falling in love. However, I hear something slightly different. I won’t divulge the deepest depth of my personal perspective—my individual interpretation—of the revealing references, per my private perception of reality, but I’ll proudly provide deeper details. In spirituality, there’s a “divine feminine” and “divine masculine” duality that conceptually exists inside every everyday Earthling. The feminine side represents smart, soft, sensitive qualities like nurturing and intuitiveness while the masculine represents stupid-ass, soft-ass, sensitive-ass features like overreacting and being outrageously offended by ordinary occurrences. Soulful singers like JoJo and SisQo are excellent examples of males who didn’t deliberately disguise their soft, sensitive side, despite JoJo’s dark domestic violence history—which was allegedly an awful product of alcohol abuse. By the way, if MJB is reading this, girl! The “L” word seems sort of strong, yet I swear I feel something similar when vibing to your applaudable albums. But when you think about it, a male may have a depressingly difficult time opening his heart to love without enjoying embracing his soft, sensitive side. And before you question big-brained Beau’s divine femininity, bitch, my immense intelligence, intuition, care, concern, and creativity keep my heart humming harmoniously with the Universe’s—which is why it loves me so fuckin’ much! In steadily stating that love “walks by” them “every day,” Dru’s dudes are accepting and acknowledging that they’re missing something, right? They’re essentially “Incomplete.” Despite sounding sincere, singing sentiments, and seeming open to opportunity, what if the clueless crooners are missing their own inner “beauty”—their feminine or soft, sensitive side—and they witness what’s not there every time they “walk by” a mirror? Again, why can’t you love yourself like you want to be loved by someone significant? Damn, did I just divulge too much after strongly stating that I wouldn’t? Shit, that sounds like a “key to life” if I’ve ever heard one! However, as a self-significant soldier of love, if one is strong enough, their love and “light” is bound to be a beacon for those seeking a savior. And if one loves themselves enough, and they see how their self-significance could serve savior-seeking souls, they may find that they love leading people to love as much as they love themselves. That’s where passion is born, and that’s what you hear in those strikingly strong voices. But do JoJo and SisQo love loving or love singing about love? By the same token, do you love yourself or are you simply surviving? What do you want from a war-ridden, wildly wicked, wasteful, worsening world? You want a savior, right? Well, become one! How, you anxiously ask? I’m not super sure, but my God, why not ask God? Nevertheless, being self-significant without selfishness, stupidity, and sustained sinning seems like a smart start. One day, super soon, me and the Universe are going to get frisky, as I’m tired of flirting and I’m fiending for a feeling that fleshy folks can’t give me! So, again, super soon…
